子供の頃、誰しもがそうであったように、古賀オーナーも無類のカレー好きであった。高校を中退し、上京。好きな料理の道に入る為、アルバイトをしながら色々な店を食べ歩いた。あるインド料理屋で、今のカレーのベースとなる『運命のカレー』と出会う。これまで食べたことのないカレー、田舎のカレーとは全く違うカレー。これだ、という思いでインド料理の勉強の為、渡米、渡印した。
昭和56年、福岡の親不孝通りに開店。当時としては珍しかった黒い色をした本格インドカリーを出し、その味の評判はまたたく間に広がり人気の店になった。しかしバブル崩壊と共に衰退していった親不孝通りにおいて、タージも立ち退きを余儀なくされた。
その後、新天地を探していたオーナーがたまたま通りかかった福岡県大川市で、今の場所を見たときに「イメージが膨らんだ」と場所を決め、自ら店舗設計・デザインを全て手がけ、営業を再開。大川周辺のお客様はもちろん、かっての福岡での味を求め、遠路はるばるやってこられるお客様も多い。
The Koga owner was a matchless curry lover like everyone so in childhood. It
leaves high school before graduation, and it goes to Tokyo. It ate various
shops while working part-time to enter the road of a favorite dish and it
walked. In a certain Indian food shop, it meets 'Curry of destining' that
becomes basic of a curry today. Curry quite different from curry that has
not been eaten and curry of the country up to now. It visits America and
India in the desire that it is this for the study of Indian food.
A store is opened in the Oyafuko street of Fukuoka in
1981. Real Indian Curry who did an unusual, black color was put out at that
time, and the reputation of the taste extended while it cooked it and became
a popular shop, too. However, it put the Oyafuko street
that declined with burst of the economic bubble, and clearout was done
through necessity as for the taj.
Afterwards, when a place today is seen in the Fukuoka Prefecture Okawa city
that the owner who had been searching for the new land happened to pass by
chance, the place is decided, it works on all the store designs and the
designs voluntarily, and business is restarted , saying that "The image
swelled". There are a lot of customers who can come all the way for the
taste in Fukuoka once from a long distance to say nothing of the customer around Okawa, too.
